GCU receives Rs 1m donation to start Golden Scholarship



Lahore, The Government College University GCU has got donation of one million rupees by Hatiqa Dabeer Razvi. The donation has been transferred to Endowment Fund Trust EFT of GCU to start golden scholarship in the name of his late father, ‘N. A. Rizvi’.  The amount was given by Hatiqa Razvi to Prof (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman Vice Chancellor GCU Lahore in an elegant ceremony organized in the University. The ceremony was also participated by GCU EFT Executive Committee Secretary Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt and the presenter’s brother, Brig (r) Dabeer Rizvi. Hatiqa Dabeer hands over Rs. 1 million to GCU VC.

Hatiqa Dabeer Razvi  said on the occasion that Prof. Rahman GCU VC that his father N. A. Rizvi was the student of Government College, Lahore in early 1930s. he developed a good interest  to his alma mater. The Vice Chancellor appreciated and thanked for a great contribution and said that with this donation the third golden scholarship will be started. Before this the two golden scholarships had also been started by Brig (r) Dabeer Rizvi and his son. Prof Khaleeq said that the ‘N. A. Rizvi Golden Scholarship’ will be provided to financially deprived student every year on merit basis. 

The Government College, Lahore got the status of a University in 2002 and became a seat for higher learning. It was renamed as the GC University Lahore. The GCU is working to enhance and promote quality of education across the country.

This Institution is one of the oldest seats of higher learning in the Muslim world. GC University joins old traditions and modern educational standards to meet the international standards established the by persons like Dr. Leitner, philosopher the poet, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal and the Noble Laureate, Dr. Abdus Salam.
